Here is what God did not say in Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous because you feel ready.” He said, “Have I not commanded it?” The courage He calls you to is not produced by your own confidence. It is a response to His command, backed by His presence.

Joshua had just lost his mentor. He was looking at a land full of walled cities and people who had not agreed to move. And into that specific moment, God spoke this word. Not to a man who had it together, but to a man who needed an anchor. That anchor was not a strategy. It was a promise: “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
