Topic: Deliverance From Marital Burdens

Devotional: Open Heaven (RCCG)

Date: 2026-07-17

Bible reading: John 2:1-11 (KJV)

Memory verse: He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.– Psalm 46:9 (KJV)

Today, I will discuss marital burdens as another category of burdens. Satan hates everything God has created, including the institution of marriage. This is why he always tries to disrupt the holy matrimony between a man and a woman. Sometimes, he focuses on keeping a man and a woman from ever getting married, and at other times, he visits a husband and his wife with different problems that will keep them from enjoying peace and rest in their home.

Today’s Bible reading tells us about a wedding in Cana of Galilee. The bridegroom must have thought that everything that was needed for the wedding had been provided. However, they suddenly ran out of wine. I am sure that they felt ashamed until the Almighty God intervened.

1 Samuel 1:1-20 tells us the story of Hannah, who was barren. Her adversary mocked her daily, and as a result, her life became unbearable. She didn’t plan to be barren, but barrenness came nonetheless, and there was nothing she could do about it. The Burden Bearer stepped into her situation, however, and she gave birth to six children, among whom was the renowned prophet, Samuel.

Sarah was also under the yoke of barrenness until the Burden Bearer visited her and her husband in Genesis 18:1-6. Before the Burden Bearer intervened in their marital situation, Sarah had been barren for decades, which was why she laughed when she heard that she would give birth to a son the following year. If you have been looking for the fruit of the womb and have lost hope that you will ever carry your own child, I want you to know that the Burden Bearer is also the hope of the hopeless, and He will surprise you. In the name that is above every other name, I decree that every barren woman who is reading this devotional will sing for joy soon.

Beloved, there is no marital challenge that the power of God cannot subdue. The Lord can command peace to reign where there is chaos and disunity, and He can still the storm in any marriage. If you are married and are currently experiencing any storm in your marriage, I pray that the Burden Bearer will step into your marriage now and cause you to sing a new song, in Jesus’ name. Also, if you are of marriageable age and are yet to be married, I decree that the Almighty God will settle you maritally with a godly spouse, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today

These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.

Prayer Points

  • Lord, I bring every weight that has attached itself to my marriage or my pursuit of marriage before You today, lift it completely by Your mighty hand.
  • Father, just as You turned water into wine in Cana, transform every area of lack and embarrassment in my home into a testimony of Your glory.
  • God of Hannah, arise over every voice of mockery and every spirit of delay that has spoken against my family, silence them by the power of Your name.
  • Lord, open the womb of every woman in my circle who has wept in secret over barrenness, and let their weeping turn to worship before this season ends.
  • Holy Spirit, be the peacemaker in every marriage that is on the verge of collapse, let Your presence bring stillness where there has only been storm.
  • Father, for every believing single who is ready and waiting, release a divine connection to a godly spouse according to Your perfect timing and not by human striving.
  • Lord Jesus, dismantle every satanic agenda designed to rob couples of joy, intimacy, and unity, let Your covenant purpose for marriage stand firm in my home.
  • God, give me the grace to invite You into every corner of my marriage and to keep You at the center, so that Your peace becomes the atmosphere we live in daily.

Declarations

  • I declare that my marriage is under the covering of God's covenant, and no weapon forged against it in any season shall find a permanent place.
  • I declare that I am not defined by years of waiting, my story is held in the hands of a God who makes all things beautiful in His time.
  • I declare that the same power that transformed a desperate situation in Cana into joy is actively working on my behalf right now.
  • I declare that barrenness, whether in my womb, my home, or my relationships, does not have the final word, because the God of Sarah and Hannah is my God too.
  • I declare that peace, love, and God-honoring unity are the inheritance of my household, and I receive them fully in the name of Jesus.

Reflection

Take a few honest moments today to identify the specific burden that is heaviest on your heart concerning your marriage or your desire for one, name it before God without polishing it up. The Burden Bearer does not require that you arrive at His throne with everything figured out; He simply asks that you come. Consider one practical step of faith you can take this week, whether that is a conversation you have been avoiding, a commitment to pray with your spouse, or choosing to trust rather than strive for what only God can give.
