Something is stirring among faithful Catholics who fill the pews, serve in parishes, and carry the weight of their families and communities before God every single day. They are not waiting for a scheduled appointment. They are opening their Bibles, dropping to their knees, and praying for freedom, for themselves and for the people they love.
This is not a new movement. It is a return. From the very beginning, the Church understood that every baptized believer shares in the priestly, prophetic, and royal office of Christ. The Catechism of the Catholic Church affirms this clearly in paragraph 1268: the laity participate in the mission of the whole people of God. That participation includes prayer, fervent, scriptural, faith-filled prayer over real spiritual battles.
Spiritual oppression, bondage, and demonic influence are not abstract theology. They press against real marriages, real minds, real families, and real communities. And while the Church rightly distinguishes between solemn exorcism, reserved for ordained priests with episcopal authorization, and the broader ministry of deliverance prayer, the latter is firmly within the calling of every believer. Scripture makes this clear. James 4:7 commands every Christian: submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee. That command was not addressed only to clergy.
These prayer points are built for you, the lay Catholic who loves God, takes spiritual warfare seriously, and wants to pray with authority rooted in the Word. Use them in your personal prayer time, in small groups, in family intercession, or alongside pastoral guidance. If you sense that someone’s need involves severe manifestation or deep-rooted spiritual affliction, involve your priest. These prayers are not a substitute for sacramental ministry, they are a complement to it, and a beginning.

Psalm 3:3 (NKJV), “You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.“

Point of Reflection
Deliverance prayer for the laity is not presumption, it is participation. When you pray the Word of God with a submitted heart, you are not reaching beyond your calling. You are walking inside it. The key is staying rooted: in scripture, in the sacraments, in humility before God, and in relationship with your pastor or priest when situations call for greater pastoral oversight. Let these prayer points be a foundation, not a ceiling. God’s Word and divine intervention are as available to you today as they were to the early Church, because the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in you.
Prayer Prompt Faith Activation
Choose one prayer point from the list that speaks most directly to a battle you or someone close to you is currently facing. Write it out by hand, speak it aloud once in the morning and once before sleep, and do this for seven consecutive days. Let the Word become your weapon and your anchor.
Final Encouragement
You are not too ordinary for this. The disciples Jesus sent out were fishermen, tax collectors, and working people, and He gave them authority over every power of the enemy. You carry that same name. You carry that same Spirit. Your prayers, prayed in faith and grounded in scripture, reach the throne of God and are heard by the One who has already secured the victory.
Keep praying. Keep standing. And when the battle feels long, remember what the Word declares: those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Heaven is not distant from your prayer, it is leaning in. Stay faithful, stay grounded in the sacramental life of the Church, and trust that the God who delivers has not finished working in you and through you.
