Devotional: The Comfort That Keeps You Small

There is a kind of comfort that costs you more than any hardship ever could. It is the comfort of staying where you are, doing what you have always done, settling into a faith that asks nothing of you and therefore gives nothing back. Spiritual infancy is not always loud rebellion. Sometimes it looks like a quiet Sunday routine, a Bible that gets opened only when trouble comes, a prayer life that never moves past asking.

Hebrews 5:14 draws a sharp and honest line: solid food belongs to the mature, to those who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
