On January 27, 2025, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams of Action Chapel International, Ghana, led a focused prayer session themed “Overturning Negative Outcomes.” Drawing on Proverbs 19:21, Nahum 1:9, and the Psalms, he guided believers to intercept outcomes contrary to God’s counsel, overturn enemy strategies, and declare safe passage through every month of the year.

This article contains 4 prayer points from that session, complete with the preacher’s own declarations, supporting scriptures, and directional notes for how to pray each point.

Pray through each point in sequence, lifting your hands and speaking each prayer aloud with authority. Return to this list at the start of each month as a declaration of safe passage.

Prayer Points for Overturning Negative Outcomes

What do you imagine against the Lord? He will make an utter end.

Nahum 1:9 (KJV)

Archbishop Duncan-Williams opened the session with Nahum 1:9 as a foundational declaration that God makes an utter end of every scheme devised against His people. He connected this to Proverbs 19:21 — that many are the devices in the hearts of men, but the counsel of the Lord shall stand — establishing the theological ground for intercepting and overturning any outcome contrary to God’s will.

Prayer Point 1: Intercept and Overturn Contrary Outcomes

Pray: Any outcome projected, imagined, programmed in the womb of time concerning me, my family, and this house, contrary to the counsel of the Lord for my life today, let that outcome be intercepted and overturned. Overturned. Overturned. Intercept and overturn any outcome of our circumstances, our lives, between now and the end of this year and beyond. Any outcome that is contrary to the counsel of the Lord, to the plan of God, to the will of God for our lives. By the blood of the covenant, we intercept that outcome. We intercept that outcome. We overturn it, overturn it, overturn it, overturn it, overturn it. In the name of Jesus, we overturn it now.

Insight

Proverbs 19:21. We want to annul any outcome that is contrary to the counsel of the Lord. The Bible says many are the devices in the hearts of men, but nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord shall stand. We want to connect Nahum 1:9 to Proverbs 19:21.

How to Pray: Lift up your hands, put them together, and pray this aloud with authority in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Point 2: Let Trouble Backfire on Them

Pray: In the name of Jesus, any trouble anyone has cooked and has devised for me and this house and my nation, let it backfire on them. Let the violence they’ve imagined against me and my house and this house and nation, let it fall on them, let it turn on them.

  • Psalm 7:15-16 (NLT)

Declarations

  • I declare by divine authority, anyone that has set a trap for us and an ambushment for us, between now and the end of this year, into that very pit let them fall. Let them fall into that very pit. Into that pit, trap, ambushment they’ve set for us, let them fall in the name of Jesus. Let them fall in the name of Jesus.

How to Pray: Put your hands together, stamp your feet, and declare this prayer aloud with authority.

Prayer Point 3: Let Them Fall into Their Own Net

Pray: In the name of Jesus, any ambushment any trap the enemy has set for me, my family, and this house between now and the end of the year. In the name of Jesus, by the blood of the covenant, through the elements of creation, let them fall into their own trap, into their own net, whilst I pass by in safety, while I escape it. In the name of Jesus. Let them fall into their own net.

Supporting Scripture

  • Psalm 141:10 (NLT)

How to Pray: Lift up your hands and pray this aloud in the name of Jesus.

We are passing by in safety, we are crossing each day, each week, each month of this year in safety.

How to Pray Through This List

These prayer points have no power in the words alone — their power is in how you pray them. E. M. Bounds taught that every answered prayer is carried on certain anchors of the heart. Here are the seven that matter most when you kneel:

  1. Pray with faith. Believe that God hears you and is able. Faith is what turns a wish into a word with weight.
  2. Pray with trust. Rest in who God is while you wait for His answer. You are not convincing a reluctant Father — you are leaning on a faithful one.
  3. Pray with humility. Come as you are. God is not impressed by eloquence; He is drawn to a low heart.
  4. Pray with desire. Pray what your heart actually hungers for, not what sounds spiritual. God answers hunger.
  5. Pray with fervency. Let your prayer carry fire, not form. Lukewarm prayers move no mountains.
  6. Pray with importunity (persistence). Keep returning to the same point until heaven answers. The prayers that break through are often the ones you almost quit.
  7. Pray with the Word of God. Before each point, read the scripture aloud. Scripture teaches your spirit to agree with what heaven has already written.

Take these prayers with you through the day — when you wake, as you wait, before meals, before you sleep. The prayer that moves heaven is the prayer that is believed, that is earnest, and that does not quit.

FAQ

How do I pray to overturn negative outcomes in my life?

Archbishop Duncan-Williams teaches lifting your hands and speaking aloud with authority, declaring that outcomes contrary to God's counsel be intercepted and overturned. Pray through each of the four prayer points in sequence, connecting Proverbs 19:21 (God's counsel stands) with Nahum 1:9 (God makes an utter end of schemes against His people). Return to these declarations monthly as a statement of safe passage through the year.

What scriptures support praying against negative outcomes?

Proverbs 19:21 states that many devices exist in human hearts, but God's counsel shall stand. Nahum 1:9 declares that God will make an utter end of imaginations against Him. Psalm 7:15-16 and Psalm 141:10 show how traps set by enemies fall back on those who devise them. These verses form the biblical foundation for intercepting and overturning contrary outcomes.

Why does Archbishop Duncan-Williams teach monthly prayer declarations?

The archbishop instructs believers to return to these prayer points at the start of each month as declarations of safe passage for that entire period. This practice anchors your protection in God's counsel throughout the year, preventing negative outcomes before they manifest. Speaking these prayers aloud with authority establishes spiritual boundaries against schemes devised in darkness.

What does it mean to intercept an outcome contrary to God's will?

Interception means stopping negative outcomes before they fully develop or manifest in your life. You pray by the blood of the covenant to annul any circumstance, plan, or strategy that contradicts God's specific counsel for you. This positions you to live only what God has ordained, not what enemies have imagined or programmed against you.
