Bible reading: Hebrews 6:11-12 (KJV)
Memory verse: The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. – Ecclesiastes 1:9 (KJV)
Today’s memory verse says that there is nothing new under the sun. This means that if you are trying to achieve something, someone else has achieved the same thing or something similar before. Therefore, if you study that person and follow the principles the fellow lived by and the steps he or she took, you should also achieve the same result. This is why you must make it a habit to learn from the people you admire and seek to emulate. When you study their lifestyles and actions and add your knowledge and experience to that, you will be positioned to achieve even greater things than they did.
I always tell my children who want to be like me, “While everyone is focusing on the glory, pay attention to the story.” God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34); whatever He has done for me, He is ready to do for anyone if they follow the principles I follow. When I became a Christian, I devoted quality time to studying the lives of the people who inspired me in the Bible, as I wanted to emulate them. For example, I spent three years studying Elijah. I loved Elijah because he was a man who could say a short prayer, and fire would fall. I loved his audacity and saw that the principles that powered his life were a devoted prayer altar and an unwavering focus on his God-given assignment. After studying Elijah for three years, I discovered Elisha, a man who possessed a double portion of Elijah’s spirit, and I shifted my focus to studying him for several years as well. I have also studied Paul because he was a scholar (Acts 22:3), and he was mightily anointed. Studying the lives of these men has shown me what I must do to remain eternally relevant in God’s plan.
Beloved, God has put numerous men and women in His word for you to study and emulate. Additionally, there are also people you can learn from in the present and in recent history. Don’t deprive yourself of the wealth of knowledge and wisdom you can glean from studying others. Learn from their successes and even their failures and mistakes so you can know how to avoid the same or similar errors. I pray that the Almighty God will point you towards great men and women you can learn from who will help you to fulfil your glorious destiny in Him, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points
- Lord, give me a teachable spirit that remains humble enough to sit under the wisdom of those You have placed ahead of me, and let pride never rob me of a lesson I desperately need.
- Father, just as You directed Pastor Adeboye to the right mentors and models at the right seasons of his life, guide my eyes and my steps toward the men and women whose stories carry the keys to my next level.
- Holy Spirit, help me to look beyond the highlight reel of others' success and discern the hidden disciplines, sacrifices, and principles that actually produced their fruit.
- God, let the biographies, testimonies, and scriptural accounts I encounter become living classrooms where You speak directly into my purpose and calling.
- Lord, preserve me from the trap of imitation without transformation, let every lesson I draw from others be filtered through Your Spirit so that I grow into my own unique expression of Your glory.
- Father, where others before me have stumbled or fallen, grant me the wisdom to recognize those patterns early and the courage to choose a different path before I repeat their costly mistakes.
- Almighty God, connect me to a community of believers and mentors who sharpen me the way iron sharpens iron, and make me someone whose story will one day encourage and equip another generation.
- Lord, let my hunger to learn never grow cold, stir in me a lifelong appetite for wisdom, whether it comes through Scripture, history, or the lives of faithful people walking beside me today.
Declarations
- I am a diligent student of wisdom, and I draw freely from the rich well of lessons God has embedded in the lives of those who came before me.
- The Holy Spirit is my ultimate teacher, and He faithfully connects every story I study to the specific purpose and calling He has placed on my life.
- I will not be a passive observer of other people's greatness, I actively apply the principles I learn and build on them to reach the heights God has ordained for me.
- No season of study is wasted in my life; every hour I invest in learning from the right sources is compounding interest on my God-given destiny.
- I walk in the fullness of what God demonstrated through those I admire, and I go further still, because the same Spirit that empowered them lives richly inside me.
Reflection
Set aside a few quiet minutes today to honestly ask yourself: who are the one or two people, biblical, historical, or present, whose walk with God genuinely stirs something in you? Instead of simply admiring them from a distance, commit to one concrete step of study this week, whether that means reading a chapter of their biography, listening to their testimony, or tracing a biblical figure’s journey through Scripture. Pair what you discover with prayer, asking God to extract the transferable principles and make them alive in your own story, not as a copy, but as a continuation of what His faithfulness can do through a yielded life.
