If you have ever felt too small, too timid, or too ordinary to make a difference for God’s kingdom, this message was written with you in mind. There is a divine strength available that has nothing to do with talent or personality, and everything to do with surrender. Let these prayer points, declarations, and reflections help you move from simply reading about this power to actually walking in it.
Open Heaven for September 29, 2026
Topic: the Power of the Holy Ghost
Devotional: Open Heaven (RCCG)
Date: 2026-09-29
Bible reading: Acts 5:25-33 (KJV)
Memory verse: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. – Acts 1:8 (KJV)
In today’s memory verse, Jesus told His disciples that they would receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon them, and it happened exactly as He had said (Acts 2:1-43). The moment the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will suddenly become strong. You will become bold and empowered to achieve great things because Zechariah 4:6 says, “… Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Many people have failed in various endeavours because they have been trying to function solely by their own power. As long as a person keeps trying to do things solely by his or her own strength, there is a high probability that such a person will fail. However, when the Holy Spirit empowers a person, he or she is assured of a positive outcome.
The power of the Holy Spirit turns cowards into mighty men and weaklings into great terrors to the kingdom of darkness. When this power came upon the apostles, the men who had been hiding from the religious leaders of their time began to confront them boldly. Today’s Bible reading reveals how Peter, who denied knowing Jesus when a maidservant pointed out that he was one of His disciples, boldly spoke about Jesus before those who threatened his life.
I recall vividly that after I got born again at the University of Lagos in 1973, I had a Head of Department whose name was Professor Chike Obi. He was the greatest mathematician Africa had ever produced. Humanly speaking, he was a very good man, but I wondered how someone could be that good and not know the love of Christ. One Sunday evening in church, we prayed and were told to go and win souls, and I said, “When I get to the office tomorrow, I’ll preach to my Head of Department.” When I got to the office, I went to him to say, “Good morning, sir,” and he thanked me in such a way that I froze and ran away. When I was baptised in the Holy Spirit, however, I became bold to preach to him. I received the power to succeed, win souls, and plant churches, and the power to win in life was also given to me.
Beloved, I pray for you today that you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit just as I did and be empowered to reign in life and be a fruitful witness for Christ, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Points
- Lord, I open every area of my heart fully to the Holy Spirit, let no corner remain closed to His presence and influence in my life.
- Father, where fear has silenced my witness, let the fire of the Holy Spirit ignite a boldness that cannot be explained by human confidence alone.
- Holy Spirit, identify every endeavour in my life where I have been relying on self-sufficiency, and teach me to yield that ground entirely to You.
- Lord, make me a vessel through whom Your power visibly flows, so that those around me encounter not my ability, but Your glory.
- Father, I pray for every person in my life who is morally good yet does not know Christ, open divine doors and give me Spirit-empowered words to reach them.
- Holy Spirit, convert every area of weakness in me into a testimony of Your transforming strength, just as You turned trembling disciples into fearless witnesses.
- Lord, let the power of the Holy Spirit in me bear lasting fruit, souls won, lives changed, and communities transformed for Your kingdom.
- Father, teach me never to mistake activity for anointing, let every step I take be Spirit-directed and Spirit-sustained.
Declarations
- I am not limited by my natural abilities, because the Holy Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in me and empowers me daily.
- I declare that fear has no authority over my voice, I am bold, Spirit-filled, and called to be a witness wherever God places me.
- I am not striving in my own strength; I walk in the supernatural enablement of the Holy Spirit, and I produce fruit that remains.
- I declare that the same Spirit who turned ordinary fishermen into world-changers is actively at work in my life right now.
- I am a carrier of divine power, and every assignment God gives me comes with the Holy Spirit's guarantee of a successful outcome.
Reflection
Take a moment today to identify one specific area, a relationship, a calling, a conversation you have been avoiding, where you have been operating entirely in your own energy. Write it down and intentionally hand it over to the Holy Spirit in prayer. The disciples did not manufacture their boldness in the upper room; they simply stayed until the power came. Sometimes our greatest act of faith is not trying harder but waiting longer in God’s presence until heaven’s enabling arrives.
