Today’s Open Heaven devotional, written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, invites us to pause and ask a piercing question: what might God be trying to show you that you have not yet noticed? Like someone standing beside a well while dying of thirst, many of us are surrounded by provision we simply cannot perceive. This message is for the weary believer who feels stuck, the one who has been searching far and wide for answers that may already be within reach.

Bible reading: Genesis 21:14-19 (KJV)

Memory verse: And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. – Isaiah 29:18 (KJV)

Yesterday, I mentioned that eyes that see are not just physical eyes. When the Lord gives you eyes that see, you will begin to experience relief in any situation where you might have previously experienced hardship. In today’s Bible reading, as Hagar and her son, Ishmael, journeyed in the wilderness, they ran out of water to drink. The wilderness is not a place to wander in without water; hence, it did not take long before Ishmael got dehydrated and weak. He became so weak that his mother thought he would die. Knowing that there was nothing she could do to keep her son alive, she distanced herself from him and began to weep. At that moment, God intervened and opened her eyes to see that the solution to her problem was right beside her. There was a well of water close to her, but she didn’t see it until God opened her eyes. How sad would it have been if she had died of thirst without knowing that the solution she was seeking was so close to her. If you are currently experiencing any challenges, I pray that the Almighty God will open your eyes to see the right solutions to them, in Jesus’ name.

When people don’t have seeing eyes, they will walk in darkness. They may have blessings all around them, but they may still suffer because they cannot see them. Those who do not have seeing eyes are at the mercy of others. They stumble at things that shouldn’t ordinarily trip them up because they cannot see. Darkness brings confusion and emptiness, and this is why the earth was void and without form until God commanded light to be (Genesis 1:2).

Beloved, God wants to give you eyes that see so that you can see His numerous blessings and enjoy His never-ending goodness. What He wanted Hagar to see was a well of water; however, for you, He might want you to see another source of income, a better way of doing all that He wants you to do, or better ways of relating with people. He does not want you to live in darkness; rather, He wants you to be full of light. He wants to show you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches in secret places. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see all the good things He has prepared for you, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today

These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.

Prayer Points

  • Lord, remove every veil from my spiritual eyes so that I perceive what You have already placed within my reach, in Jesus' name.
  • Father, just as You heard the cry of a desperate mother in the wilderness, hear every silent prayer I have been too tired to articulate, and respond with Your mercy.
  • Holy Spirit, illuminate every area of my life where I have been making decisions from a place of spiritual blindness rather than divine clarity.
  • God of all provision, reveal to me the hidden resources, relationships, and opportunities You have ordained for this season of my life.
  • Lord, I pray for everyone who is wandering in a personal wilderness right now, open their eyes before despair convinces them there is no way forward.
  • Father, deliver me from depending solely on what my natural eyes can see; train my heart to trust the vision You place within my spirit.
  • I ask, Lord, that You expose and dismantle every pattern of thinking that keeps me blind to Your goodness surrounding me daily.
  • Gracious God, let the light of Your Word penetrate every dark corner of confusion in my mind, my home, and my circumstances today.

Declarations

  • I am not a child of darkness; my eyes are anointed to see the good plans God has prepared specifically for me.
  • Every resource, solution, and opportunity that God has placed in my path is becoming visible to me now, because His Spirit is my guide.
  • I will not perish for lack of vision; the Lord who opened Hagar's eyes is opening mine, and I receive clarity over confusion today.
  • God's blessings are not hidden from me, they are being revealed to me layer by layer as I walk in faith and trust His timing.
  • I declare that I see with the eyes of faith: I see healing, I see breakthrough, and I see the well of provision God has already placed beside me.

Reflection

Take a few quiet moments today to sit with this question: in which area of your life have you been acting out of panic or assumption rather than divine perspective? Hagar’s crisis was not resolved by more effort, it was resolved by a single moment of God-granted sight. Consider journaling one specific situation where you need fresh eyes, then intentionally invite God into that space through prayer before you take your next step.
