When God is Moving and You Cannot See It Yet

The hardest kind of waiting is the kind where you know something needs to change but you cannot yet see what God is doing about it. You have been praying the same prayers, scanning the same circumstances, looking for evidence that heaven has heard you. The patterns feel fixed. The obstacles seem permanent. And tonight, as you close your eyes, you wonder if anything is actually shifting beneath the surface of what you can see.

Maybe you are watching a relationship that has been stuck for months. Maybe it is a financial situation that refuses to budge, a health issue that drags on without resolution, or a calling you sense but cannot yet step into. You have asked God to move. You believe He can. But the visible evidence has not arrived, and the gap between promise and proof is wearing you down.

What if the reason you cannot see what God is doing is not because He is silent, but because His work is so new, so unfamiliar, that your eyes have not yet adjusted to recognize it? What if the very thing you are waiting for is already beginning, just outside the frame of what you have been trained to notice?

God speaks directly into this tension in Isaiah 43:19 (CSB): “Look, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”

This verse was spoken to a people who were spiritually and emotionally locked into their past. They were defined by what had already happened, by old patterns of deliverance, by the miracles they had memorized. And God interrupts that backward gaze with a startling declaration: I am doing something you have never seen before. It is not a repeat. It is not a variation. It is new. And it is already beginning.

The phrase “even now it is coming” carries the force of present motion. God is not waiting for you to figure it out first. He is not pausing until you feel ready. He is moving now, in real time, creating pathways where there were none, bringing life into barren ground. The question is not whether God is working. The question is whether your eyes are open to see the kind of work He is actually doing.

Consider the story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6. The city was surrounded by enemy armies. The servant woke up, stepped outside, and saw only danger. He ran back to Elisha in panic: “What are we going to do?” Elisha did not argue with what the servant saw. He simply prayed, “Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.” And when the servant’s eyes were opened, he saw what had been there all along: the mountains were full of horses and chariots of fire, the armies of heaven positioned around them. The danger had not changed. The protection had always been present. But the servant could not see it until his vision was adjusted.

That is what happens when God does a new thing. He does not always remove the obstacle. Sometimes He opens your eyes to see the provision that was already surrounding it. He does not always change the landscape. Sometimes He changes what you are able to perceive within it.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” This is not just positional theology. This is practical reality. In Christ, you are wired for newness. Your identity is anchored in a God who makes all things new, who does not simply restore the old but creates what has never existed before. And that includes the answer to what you are praying about tonight.

Maybe tonight you are lying awake because the door you wanted to open is still closed, and you cannot see another way forward. Maybe you are frustrated because the breakthrough you have been praying for looks nothing like what you expected, and you are not sure if what is happening now even counts. Maybe you have been so focused on one specific outcome that you have missed the quiet, persistent work God has been doing in a completely different direction.

This night prayer for April 27 is for the ones who need their spiritual eyes recalibrated. I ask You to do something new in every place where I have been tempted to believe nothing will ever change. I ask You to break the patterns that have held me back. I ask You to open doors I did not even know existed. I ask You to surprise me with Your goodness in ways I could never predict.

And as I sleep tonight, I pray that You would continue this work in my spirit. Let my rest be a place of renewal. Let my dreams be marked by hope. Let me wake up tomorrow with fresh eyes, ready to see what You are revealing. I trust You, Lord. I trust that You are not done. I trust that the best is still ahead.
