Today’s Open Heaven devotional from Pastor E.A. Adeboye carries a timely reminder that receiving a breakthrough is only the beginning of the journey. Freedom must be guarded, and praise is one of the most powerful weapons God has placed in our hands to do exactly that. Whether you are stepping into a fresh season of deliverance or working to hold on to ground already won, this message speaks directly to you. Let it stir your heart and open your mouth.

Bible reading: Psalm 149:1-9 (KJV)
Memory verse: I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. – Psalm 9:2 (KJV)
When someone who is under the burden of the yoke of satan cries out to God genuinely for help, God steps in and delivers such a fellow. However, after receiving the deliverance, there are certain things the person must do and continue to do so that the ‘taskmaster’ (the devil) will not lay a heavier burden on him or her. For example, God heard the cry of the Israelites when the Egyptians enslaved them, and He came to their rescue (Exodus 3:7-9), but there were steps they had to take to ensure that they were not re-enslaved by their Egyptian taskmasters.
Matthew 12:43-45 tells us that if a person becomes free from a burden of demonic possession and remains empty, the burden will return in a worse form because the evil spirit that left the person will return with seven other spirits that are more wicked than itself, so that the latter end of the person will be worse than the first. I pray that in any area the enemy wants your latter end to be worse than your beginning, the Almighty God will frustrate his plans, in Jesus’ name.
When a fellow has been freed from a burden, the first thing that he or she must do to keep the enemy away and ensure that the burden that has been lifted does not return is to praise God continually. Acts 3:1-8 tells the story of a lame man who lay by the Beautiful Gate of the temple. When God visited him and took away his burden of stagnation, poverty, and shame, he began to walk, leap, and praise God without caring about anyone who was watching him. This man was born lame, and before his healing, he was already above 40 years old (Acts 4:22). This means that he was being carried from one point to another for over 40 years and must have been unable to enter the temple unaided. He might have been praying silently, “God, I wish I had legs so I could enter the temple and dance and praise You as You deserve.” This must have been why he leapt and praised God with so much joy when he received his deliverance.
Beloved, has God been good to you? Has He taken away your burdens? Praise Him abundantly, everywhere, and at all times. As we see in today’s Bible reading, fill your mouth with high praises to God. Dance and use musical instruments to praise Him, for He alone is worthy of your praise.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today
These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.
Prayer Points
- Lord, I thank You for every burden You have already lifted off my life, seen and unseen. Let gratitude overflow from me today and every day.
- Father, seal every door that the enemy might use to re-enter areas where You have already set me free. Let Your Spirit fill every empty space within me.
- God, teach me to praise You not only in the mountain-top moments but also in the ordinary, quiet days when no miracle feels fresh or visible.
- Holy Spirit, cultivate in me the kind of uninhibited joy the lame man at Beautiful Gate displayed, worship that is bold, public, and unapologetic.
- Lord, I pray for every person reading this who is waiting for their own Beautiful Gate moment. Meet them today with supernatural intervention, in Jesus' name.
- Father, frustrate every plan the enemy has to make my latter end worse than my beginning. Let every plot of regression and reversal be dismantled by Your power.
- God, I ask for a community of worshippers around me, people who will encourage me to keep praising You and who will not let silence replace my song.
- Lord, make my life a living testimony that points others to You. Let my praise become someone else's proof that You are real and that You deliver.
Declarations
- I declare that my freedom is preserved by the continual praise rising from my heart and lips to God Most High.
- I am not empty, I am filled with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, and there is no room for what God has already cast out.
- I declare that my latter end is greater than my former season, because God's plans for me are forward, upward, and abundant.
- No yoke that has been broken over my life shall be reassembled. I walk in the sustained liberty Christ has purchased for me.
- I choose praise as a daily lifestyle, not merely a response to miracles, and through it I maintain the high ground God has given me.
Reflection
Take a moment today to identify one specific area where God has already moved on your behalf, perhaps something you have started taking for granted. Recommit to thanking Him for it openly and often. Sustained freedom is not passive; it is cultivated through an active, grateful heart that keeps turning back to the One who delivered you. Let your praise today be less about performance and more about memory, remembering what life looked like before He stepped in.
