Today’s Open Heaven devotional, written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, brings a timely word for anyone who feels weighed down by invisible chains, whether that looks like persistent oppression, unexplained heaviness, or battles that seem to have no natural explanation. This message is for the believer who knows something is wrong but cannot quite name it, and for the intercessor standing in the gap for a loved one. Jesus is not distant from your situation; He is the same Deliverer who shattered demonic strongholds in the synagogue and in the testimony shared today. Come with expectation, freedom is not just a promise, it is your inheritance.

Memory verse: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. – John 8:36 (KJV)
While my mother was still alive, I went to visit her on one occasion, and a man was brought to me so I could pray for him. The man told me he needed help, but when I looked at him, I could not see anything visibly wrong with him. When he saw the puzzled look on my face, he told me, “Watch.” He dug into his hair and brought out a cockroach. He said, “I’m not a magician. I’m only showing you the kind of spiritual affliction I have.” He dug his fingers into his hair again and brought out another kind of insect. Then he asked me to listen closely as he brought his arm near my ears. When he did that, I began to hear the sound of motorcycles reviving. After all these, I asked him to surrender his life to Jesus, and he did. Then, I cried to the Great Deliverer to intervene in his situation, and he left. Two weeks later, I returned to see my mother, and the man came back to see me. This time, he was rejoicing because he had been completely delivered. His skin glowed, and he looked radiant. I decree that if you are carrying any form of spiritual burden, you are set free henceforth, in Jesus’ name.
Spiritual burdens come in different forms, some of which include oppressions, addictions, suppressions, and demonic possessions. Today’s Bible reading tells us the story of a man who was possessed by a demon. When he saw Jesus in the temple, the unclean spirit in him cried out, “Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.” Immediately, Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and cast it out of the man. We do not know how long the man had been in that situation; however, when he encountered Jesus, the spiritual burden he was carrying was instantly lifted.
Beloved, are you carrying a spiritual burden? Are you battling addictions or demonic oppression? I want you to know that Jesus, the Burden Bearer, can lift that burden off your shoulders. All you need to do is honour His invitation in Matthew 11:28. I pray that the Burden Bearer will remove any form of spiritual burden that is in your life or the lives of your loved ones today, in the mighty name of Jesus.

- Father, just as You moved swiftly for the man in the synagogue, let Your delivering power move swiftly in my life today, leaving no residue of darkness behind.
- Holy Spirit, shine Your searchlight into every corner of my mind, body, and spirit, and drive out every occupying force that does not belong there, in Jesus' name.
- Lord, I intercede for every member of my family who is carrying a spiritual burden they do not yet understand, let Your compassion reach them and let Your power set them free.
- Father, break every chain of addiction that has wrapped itself around my will, my desires, or my habits, and replace that hunger with a deep and satisfying hunger for You alone.
- I pray against every form of spiritual suppression that has silenced my gifts, muted my voice, or delayed my destiny, let the stone be rolled away, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, restore the joy, the glow, and the vitality that bondage has stolen, let my countenance reflect the freedom that Christ has purchased for me.
- Thank You, Father, that the Son has made me free and that my freedom is not temporary or conditional, I receive it fully today, and I ask You to help me walk in it consistently.

- I am not a slave to any spiritual burden, the Son of God has made me free, and my freedom is real, complete, and permanent.
- Every unclean thing that has attached itself to my life without permission must bow to the name of Jesus and leave now.
- I walk in the liberty that Christ secured for me, and no addiction, oppression, or demonic assignment has authority over my life.
- My body, mind, and spirit are temples of the Holy Spirit, and I declare that darkness has no legal dwelling place inside me.
- Like the man whose burden was lifted the moment he encountered Jesus, I declare that my encounter with the living Christ marks the end of every yoke in my life.
Reflection
Take a quiet moment today to honestly examine whether there is any area of your life where you feel persistently stuck, oppressed, or unlike yourself, not to dwell in fear, but to bring it directly to Jesus with the confidence that He has already made provision for your freedom. True deliverance rarely requires dramatic proof; it requires genuine surrender, the same simple step the man in today’s testimony took when he gave his life to Christ. Whatever your burden looks like, lay it at the feet of the Burden Bearer today, and trust Him to do what only He can do.
