Devotional: The Mind That Lets Go
You have been carrying thoughts tonight that were never meant to stay this late. The review you keep replaying, the conversation that landed wrong, the worry that has quietly followed you from room to room. Your mind knows how to grip, and it has been gripping hard.
What Isaiah 26:3 says stops you mid-breath: “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” The Hebrew word for “stayed” carries the idea of leaning your full weight on something, the way you finally sit down after a long day. God is not offering a lighter version of peace. He is offering perfect peace, shalom shalom, the doubled word that means complete, unbroken wholeness. And it belongs to the mind that chooses to stay.
