Stepping Into What You Cannot Yet See
The invitation has already been extended. You sense it in the quiet moments, in the restlessness that will not settle, in the pull toward something you cannot fully name. God is opening a door, and the threshold before you feels unfamiliar. The old patterns no longer fit. The comfortable explanations no longer satisfy. You stand at the edge of a new dimension, and every part of you that craves certainty is asking for more information before you move.
Perhaps tonight you are wrestling with a call that requires you to leave behind what you have always known. Maybe the promotion, the relocation, the ministry assignment, or the relationship shift feels too large for the person you believe yourself to be. You have rehearsed every reason why someone else would be better suited. You have cataloged your limitations, your past failures, your lack of credentials. The weight of inadequacy sits heavy on your chest as you lie here, wondering if you misheard God’s voice.
Yet God does not call the equipped. He equips the called. The very thing that terrifies you tonight is the doorway to the dimension He has been preparing you to occupy. Your hesitation is not evidence of disqualification. It is proof that you understand the magnitude of what He is offering. The fear you feel is not a sign to retreat. It is the natural human response to standing before the supernatural expansion of your assignment.
God spoke these words to Joshua as he stood at the edge of his own impossible assignment: Joshua 1:9 (ESV): “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Notice the order of God’s instruction. He begins not with a suggestion but with a command. Strength and courage are not feelings Joshua must manufacture. They are postures he must choose to assume because God has already issued the directive. The command itself carries the authority and provision to fulfill it. When God commands courage, He simultaneously releases the grace to walk in it. The question is not whether you have the strength. The question is whether you will accept the strength He has already made available.
Joshua knew what it meant to stand in Moses’ shadow. For forty years, he had watched the greatest deliverer Israel ever knew lead with signs, wonders, and the visible presence of God. Now Moses was gone, and Joshua stood before a generation that expected the same miracles, the same authority, the same anointing. The Jordan River was at flood stage. The walls of Jericho stood unconquered. Every military strategy he had learned in the wilderness felt insufficient for the task ahead. Yet God did not ask Joshua to be Moses. He asked Joshua to be faithful in the dimension assigned to him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) declares, “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” The promise is not that the path will be easy. The promise is that you will not walk it alone. Every new dimension God leads you into is already occupied by His presence. He does not send you ahead and then catch up. He goes with you. The unfamiliar territory is not unknown to Him.
Maybe tonight you are staring at the business plan that feels too ambitious, the conversation you need to initiate, the boundary you need to establish, or the dream you have been too afraid to speak aloud. Maybe you are lying awake calculating the cost of obedience, measuring your resources against the size of the assignment, and coming up short every time. Maybe you have been waiting for the fear to dissipate before you move, not realizing that courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to obey in spite of it.
God is strengthening your heart tonight. He is not asking you to understand every detail before you step forward. He is asking you to trust that the One who called you into this new dimension has already prepared the way. The door is open. The command has been given. The grace is present. What remains is your yes.

I thank You for the transitions that have stretched me, the doors that have opened unexpectedly, and the grace that has met me at every threshold. I do not need to manufacture strength on my own. I do not need to conjure courage from my own reservoir. I simply need to receive what You have already made available. Strengthen my heart, Father.
