Devotional – Treasuring What Heaven Has Given You

There are moments when you recognize God’s hand in your life. But there are also moments—busy moments—when you rush past His miracles without pausing to treasure them.

Maybe tonight you’re thinking about everything that didn’t happen. The prayers that seem unanswered. And in focusing on what’s missing, you’ve forgotten to treasure what God has already done.

But heaven has a different report. You are not empty-handed tonight. God has already moved in your life in ways you need to remember. Tonight, you’re being called to do what Mary did—treasure these things and ponder them in your heart.

Scripture declares, “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19, NKJV). Shepherds showed up with an impossible story—angels announcing that her baby was the Savior. And while everyone was talking, Mary did something different. She treasured it. She pondered it. She let it sink deep.

She wasn’t just hearing about God’s faithfulness—she was storing it. Creating a reservoir she could return to later. When things got hard. When doubt tried to creep in. She had treasures stored in her heart that reminded her: God is faithful.

Paul wrote: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” (Colossians 3:16, NKJV). Dwell richly. Not just visit. Dwell. And when the Word dwells richly in you, it transforms how you see everything. It reminds you of what God has done.

The psalmist declared: “I will remember the works of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old” (Psalm 77:11, NKJV). This wasn’t just nostalgia. This was spiritual warfare. When overwhelmed, he fought back by remembering.

Maybe you feel like God has been silent. Like nothing is happening. But God has not stopped working. You’ve just stopped treasuring what He’s already done. The relationship He restored. The door He opened. The provision that showed up. That was God. And tonight, you’re treasuring it.

A Gentle Pause Before Prayer

Close your eyes for a moment.

Think about one thing God has done for you. Just one. Treasure it right now.

Now, let’s pray.

Thanksgiving Before Rest

Father, Your Word says to give thanks to You, for You are good and Your love endures forever (Psalm 107:1, ESV).
Thank You for all You have done that I’ve taken for granted.
Thank You for the miracles I’ve stopped noticing.
Thank You for answered prayers I’ve forgotten to celebrate.
Thank You for faithfulness I need to treasure tonight.
Your Word promises that Your mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT).
I treasure that truth tonight.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Worship Through Song

Let these songs settle your heart as you prepare to pray:

Let worship help you remember and treasure His faithfulness.

Confession and Surrender

Lord, I come to You honestly tonight.
I confess I’ve focused on what’s missing instead of treasuring what You’ve done.
I’ve complained about unanswered prayers while ignoring the ones You already answered.
Your Word says if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me (1 John 1:9, ESV).
I receive that right now.
You’ve removed my sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12, NKJV).
I am clean. I am grateful. I am treasuring Your goodness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lifting Others Before Sleep

Lord, before I sleep, I bring those on my heart to You.
Your Word says the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16, NLT).
I pray for my family—help them treasure Your faithfulness in their lives.
I pray for my friends who feel forgotten—remind them of what You’ve already done.
I pray for those who are discouraged—give them eyes to see Your goodness.
You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18, ESV).
I release what I cannot control.
You never sleep, so I can (Psalm 121:4, NASB).
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You have been so faithful, and I’ve been too busy to treasure it.
Tonight, I’m doing what Mary did—I’m treasuring what You’ve done and pondering it in my heart.
Your Word says Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19, NKJV).
I’m keeping tonight. I’m pondering tonight. I’m treasuring tonight.

I declare what Your Word says—let the word of Christ dwell in me richly (Colossians 3:16, NKJV).
Not just visit. Dwell. Make its home in my heart.
