Devotional: The Prayer That Never Runs Out

You have probably had days when prayer felt like one more thing on a list you could not finish. You bowed your head in the morning, ran out of time, and carried the rest of your needs alone until you fell asleep. Paul wrote to a church in Thessalonica that was under pressure, uncertain, and watching for Christ’s return. Into that tension he handed three commands in two verses: rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in everything. He was not describing a spiritual elite. He was describing the ordinary posture of a believer who has stopped treating prayer as a scheduled event and started treating it as breath.
