Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 1:6-15 (KJV)

Memory verse: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. – Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

Some years ago, a member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International declared that he would cover the cost of every evangelistic programme held in his chapter throughout that year, and everyone agreed. Later that year, the man shared the testimonies about what the Lord had done for him as a result of his giving, and the other members of the fellowship were truly amazed. Then, he offered to cover all the costs of the chapter’s evangelistic programmes for the next year, but other members of the fellowship said in unison, “No way!” They also wanted to partake of the blessings that come with giving and didn’t want the man to enjoy them alone.

In today’s Bible reading, we read that Solomon sowed a thousand burnt offerings as a sacrifice to God, and that night, God appeared to him and asked what he wanted. Solomon asked for the gift of wisdom. God granted his request and also gave him unparalleled riches, wealth, and honour. Solomon was so blessed that the Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:5 that when he gave another offering, he sacrificed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep!

One of the many beautiful things about trading with God is that God can never owe any man. If you give Him something, He will repay you monumentally. Nobody trades with God and suffers a loss. Hebrews 11:6 calls Him a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. John 6:5-13 tells us the story of a boy who offered his five loaves of bread and two small fishes for Jesus to feed the multitudes. What happened next was that he witnessed one of the greatest miracles of all time, as he watched his tiny lunch multiply to feed thousands. Apart from that, he also received twelve baskets of leftover food, which l believe were given to him since it was his lunch that was used to feed the multitude. A child who came with a little lunch pack suddenly needed the help of adults to carry baskets of food back to his house.

Beloved, Ephesians 3:20 says that God can do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ask or think. This clearly shows that you can never trade with God and become worse for it. Whatever you give to God will be given back to you in multiple folds, far beyond your wildest imagination.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today

These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.

Prayer Points

  • Lord, soften any area of my heart that has held back from generous giving out of fear or doubt, and replace that fear with bold, joyful trust in Your faithfulness.
  • Father, like Solomon who gave extravagantly before he had everything, teach me to honor You with what I have right now, not waiting for abundance before I sow.
  • God, open my eyes to the specific seeds You are calling me to plant this season, whether in finances, time, service, or prayer, and grant me the courage to act.
  • Lord, let the testimony of Your faithfulness in my giving become a catalyst that stirs up generosity in everyone around me, just as it happened in that fellowship.
  • Father, I pray for everyone reading today who is in a season of scarcity, remind them that the widow's oil multiplied only after she poured, and stir their faith to pour first.
  • God, guard my motives in giving. Let me never sow merely to receive, but first and always to honor You, trusting that Your reward flows naturally from a pure heart.
  • Lord, make me a steward who is genuinely amazed by Your multiplication. Let gratitude, not entitlement, mark every testimony I carry about Your provision in my life.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, align my entire financial life, spending, saving, and giving, with kingdom priorities, so that my resources become a tool for Your glory on the earth.

Declarations

  • I declare that I am a cheerful, fearless giver, and heaven's economy is always working in my favor because God is faithful to His Word.
  • I declare that nothing I release into God's hands is ever lost, it is transformed into a harvest too large for me to carry alone.
  • I declare that I walk in the wisdom of Solomon, the faith of a little boy with a small lunch, and the generosity of those who have seen God's reward firsthand.
  • I declare that lack does not have the final word over my life, because I am in covenant with a God who is incapable of being outdone in generosity.
  • I declare that my giving opens doors, silences lack, and positions me to experience the exceeding, abundant, above-and-beyond provision of Almighty God.

Reflection

Take a moment today to identify one tangible thing you can place in God’s hands, money for a ministry, time for a neighbor, a skill for your local church. Generosity rarely feels convenient, but Scripture consistently shows that the moment of release is the moment the miracle begins. Commit that act of giving before the day ends, then write it down and watch how God responds over the coming weeks.
