Today’s Open Heaven devotional invites us to look at life through the lens of a farmer, one who plants with intention and trusts the soil of God’s faithfulness to yield a return. Pastor E.A. Adeboye opens our eyes to a divine principle that governs everything from agriculture to eternity: the law of harvest. Whether you are in a season of sowing or waiting on a long-overdue harvest, this message is for you. Come with an open heart and let God’s Word reset the way you think about every seed you carry.

Bible reading: 1 Corinthians 15:37-44 (KJV)
Memory verse: While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. – Genesis 8:22 (KJV)
The law of harvest is one of the most powerful laws created by God. It states that ‘whatever a person sows is what he or she will reap’ (Galatians 6:7), and it is so powerful that God applied it to Himself when He wanted more children. John 12:24 says a corn of wheat must first be sown into the ground and die before it can bring forth much fruit. So God sowed His only begotten son (Jesus Christ), so that He might gain many more children, and Jesus would become the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29).
Many years ago, there was a man in Nigeria who would hand out cash to people randomly wherever he went. People followed him everywhere he went because they knew that he would give them money. Some people wondered if he was mad, but he wasn’t; he only discovered that the more he gave out money, the more he received. Anyone who truly discovers the secret of the law of harvest would never be begged to give.
The law of harvest is so powerful that when a person sows a seed of kindness or wickedness, the fellow will harvest what he or she has sown in bountiful folds. Nobody sows a grain of corn and harvests a grain; if you sow a grain of corn, the least harvest you can expect is a cob of corn with many grains. Job 4:8 says “…they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.” People who spend their time scheming to harm others will eventually fall into the traps they created. Likewise, if you sow kindness, you will reap an abundance of kindness. Hosea 10:12 says that when people sow in righteousness, they will reap in mercy.
Beloved, one thing you must constantly sow as a believer is good works. Dorcas could never have known that the harvest of her good works towards the widows in her community would come in the form of her being resurrected from the dead (Acts 9:36-42) – that is another mystery about the law of harvest. Today’s Bible reading tells us that whatever is sown often returns in another form because God gives the seed a body as He pleases. Dorcas’ seed of kindness returned in a bigger, better form as God’s gift of resurrection. Keep sowing good works, and watch God repay you in ways beyond your wildest imagination.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today
These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.
Prayer Points
- Lord, grant me the wisdom to recognize every moment as a sowing opportunity, and help me never to despise the smallness of a single seed.
- Father, I ask for grace to sow generously even in seasons when my own hands feel empty, trusting that Your law of harvest never fails.
- Forgive me, Lord, for every seed of bitterness, pride, or selfishness I have planted, uproot those harvests and replace them with the fruit of Your Spirit.
- Heavenly Father, like Dorcas, let my acts of compassion and service leave marks on lives that only eternity can fully measure.
- Lord, I pray for every person who is waiting on a harvest that feels long overdue, renew their patience, refresh their hope, and confirm Your faithfulness to them.
- Give me eyes to see the needs around me today, and a willing hand to meet them, knowing that what I release into the lives of others I am planting in Your kingdom.
- Father, guard my heart against sowing seeds of envy or ill will toward others; let every thought I think and word I speak be seed worth harvesting.
- Lord, just as You gave Your Son as the ultimate seed for the greatest harvest of souls, let my life be a seed fully surrendered to Your purposes.
Declarations
- I am a deliberate sower, I choose daily to plant seeds of kindness, generosity, and righteousness, and I confidently expect a bountiful return.
- The law of harvest works in my favor because I am rooted in Christ, and everything I release in faith will return to me multiplied by God's grace.
- No season of lack or delay can cancel my harvest; what God has ordained to grow in my life will break ground at exactly the right time.
- I refuse to grow weary in doing good, my consistency in sowing is an act of worship, and my God who rewards openly will not overlook a single seed.
- I am not a victim of the seeds others have sown against me; I am protected by the covering of righteousness, and mercy overtakes judgment in my story.
Reflection
Take a quiet moment today to audit your daily habits as seeds, the words you speak into a colleague’s discouragement, the time you give to someone who cannot repay you, the patience you extend in traffic or at home. None of these are small. The law of harvest does not grade seeds by their appearance but by what they carry inside. Identify one practical act of kindness or generosity you can plant before this day closes, and do it without announcement, trusting the Farmer to tend what you cannot see.
