Topic: Dealing With Mountains

Devotional: Open Heaven (RCCG)

Date: 2026-10-09

Bible reading: Job 9:1-6 (KJV)

Memory verse: Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. – Zachariah 4:7 (KJV)

Several years ago, a highly-placed woman in society walked into my office one morning and claimed that God had told her I was her husband. I responded in shock, “How can God tell you that I’m your husband when I’m happily married, and you are also married?” She kept insisting that I was her husband, and when I realised she would not leave me alone, I involved the police, and she was instructed to stop coming to Redemption City. However, she wasn’t deterred. At one point, she threatened my wife that if she didn’t allow her to marry me, she would kill her. One time, I travelled to London to prepare our Sunday School manual, and I didn’t tell anyone about my trip because I wanted to work quietly. Surprisingly, as soon as I got to the house I was to stay at, the phone rang. When I picked up the phone, that same woman was on the line. She said, “Welcome. I have been waiting for you. I am at the next bus stop, and I will be with you in a few minutes.” At that point, I threatened her that I would call the police, and they would be waiting for her if she came. After dropping the phone, I turned to God and said, “Father, You have to help me.” He replied, “As long as you allow the mountain to stay, it will.” At that point, I realised that I had been tolerating the devil like Paul did until he got tired and commanded an evil spirit to leave a girl in Acts 16:16-18. So, I said a simple prayer to God about the matter, and He saw to it that she never bothered me again. I pray that the Almighty God will deal with those who will not let you rest, in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, God can deal with any mountains in your path in different ways. He can give you the strength to climb and walk over them, or turn them into plains like He did for Zerubbabel in today’s memory verse. Regardless of the method He decides to use, you must understand that as long as you are comfortable with a mountain in your life, it will stay put. However, the moment you rise in prayer to confront it, God will show up and reveal how to address the mountain to you. May God give you the grace to overcome any mountain in your path, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today

These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.

Prayer Points

  • Lord, open my eyes to every mountain I have unconsciously learned to live with, and stir holy dissatisfaction in my heart toward every obstacle that dishonors Your name in my life.
  • Father, forgive me for every moment I chose tolerance over intercession and comfort over confrontation, grant me a renewed posture of bold, persistent prayer.
  • Almighty God, arise on my behalf against every stubborn force that has followed me, harassed me, or refused to respect the boundaries You have set around my life.
  • Lord, just as You silenced every voice that threatened Zerubbabel's assignment, silence every contrary voice that speaks against my destiny, my family, and my peace.
  • Holy Spirit, teach me exactly how to pray in every specific situation, reveal the strategy, the scripture, and the timing that will cause every mountain before me to become a plain.
  • Father, I lift before You every person reading this today who is under relentless attack, let Your supernatural intervention be swift, unmistakable, and final, in Jesus' name.
  • Lord, turn every mountain in my path into a testimony of Your faithfulness, so that those who once watched me struggle will watch me shout 'Grace, grace' over the rubble that remains.
  • God of all power, strengthen my resolve never to quit before my breakthrough, anchor my soul in the certainty that You are both willing and able to fight every battle I surrender to You.

Declarations

  • I refuse to coexist with what God has already condemned, every mountain in my life is subject to the authority of Jesus Christ, and I decree its removal today.
  • I am not a victim of my circumstances; I am a victor positioned in prayer, and every force that has stood against my peace is crumbling right now under the weight of God's Word.
  • The same God who answered by fire, parted seas, and leveled walls has not changed, He is at work on my behalf, and no mountain will outlast His faithfulness toward me.
  • I walk in the grace of Zerubbabel, what appeared immovable before me is becoming a plain, and I declare that I will lay the capstone of every promise with shouts of praise.
  • I will not settle for proximity to my breakthrough while still tolerating the obstacle that stands between me and it, I rise in faith, I pray with authority, and I trust God for the outcome.

Reflection

Take a quiet moment today to honestly identify one area of your life where you have drifted into an uneasy truce with a problem, perhaps rationalizing it, working around it, or simply hoping it disappears on its own. Today’s devotional is a gentle but firm invitation to stop accommodating what heaven has already authorized you to confront. Choose one specific prayer point from above, return to it three times before the day ends, and watch how God begins to shift what felt immovable.
