Open Heaven for October 10, 2026

Topic: Hold On To Jesus

Devotional: Open Heaven (RCCG)

Date: 2026-10-10

Bible reading: Psalm 105:16-22 (KJV)

Memory verse: The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts. – Haggai 2:9 (KJV)

Have you ever faced a situation that seemed overwhelming to handle? You might have asked a lot of questions like, “Why doesn’t God just promote me? Why do I have to go through these unpleasant situations before He takes me to the next level?” Joseph probably asked these questions as he went from one unpleasant situation to another. Just when he thought everything was fine in Potiphar’s house, God introduced the prison to refine him further. However, when God was through with him, he became so blessed that the destiny of nations and generations depended on him. Today’s Bible reading tells us about how he moved from being a servant to being a ruler. The word of the Lord tested Joseph (Psalm 105:19), and when God saw that he was ready for the highest level of blessing, the king sent for him, freed him from prison, and made him a ruler in Egypt. Beloved, I pray for you today that God will promote you to a higher level and make you stand before kings, in Jesus’ name.

Some people receive what appear to be automatic promotions. Such people seem not to do anything before they experience a blessing. This is good, and many people love such promotions. However, this is not often the case for everyone. Some people undergo numerous trials to the point where they begin to wonder why they must endure such daunting challenges before being promoted. If you are currently going through such trials, don’t despair. Even though your beginning may be small, your end will greatly increase, in Jesus’ name (Job 8:7).

In Genesis 32:6-7, Esau, who got a ‘remnant’ blessing, became so mighty that he had 400 bodyguards. Without doubt, he was a great man. This means that, regardless of how challenging your beginning might have been, you can still experience significant positive changes in the latter part of your life. It doesn’t matter how you start; what matters is how you end.

Beloved, no matter what you may be going through currently, hold on to Jesus. Don’t seek shortcuts from the world; instead, follow God’s due process, and you will surely enter into the glorious future He has prepared for you. I am sure of this because Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). I pray that when you face trials, you will be found faithful, ready, and well-positioned for your next-level blessing, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today

These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content, declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.

Prayer Points

  • Father, in the moments when my path feels unnecessarily long and difficult, anchor my soul in the certainty that You have not forgotten me and that Your timing carries a wisdom I cannot yet fully see.
  • Lord, wherever refinement is still needed in my character, do Your complete work, even if it means extending the season, so that when my appointed moment arrives, I am truly ready to carry the weight of the blessing.
  • Holy Spirit, guard my heart against bitterness and comparison when I witness others advancing while I seem to stand still; remind me that my story is uniquely authored and cannot be measured against another's chapter.
  • Heavenly Father, strengthen my grip on Jesus in every moment of pressure. Let me never reach for shortcuts that bypass Your process, knowing that what You build through patience cannot be shaken.
  • Lord, I bring before You everyone in my community who is on the verge of giving up, breathe fresh hope into their lungs today, remind them of Joseph's story, and let their faith outlast their trial.
  • God of every latter-house glory, let what emerges from this season of my life exceed everything that preceded it, and may the increase You release through me ripple into the lives of people and generations I may never even meet.
  • Father, make me trustworthy with smaller responsibilities right now, so that when the larger platform arrives, faithfulness will already be the habit of my life rather than something I have to suddenly learn.
  • Lord Jesus, be my peace in the places where I cannot manufacture it myself, especially in the middle-of-the-night moments when questions crowd out quiet trust.

Declarations

  • I declare that my present difficulty is not my final destination; God is actively working within this season to position me for a future that surpasses everything I can currently imagine.
  • I declare that Christ in me is my living hope of glory, and because He does not fail, the glorious outcome He has written over my life will not fail either.
  • I declare that I will not trade God's proven process for the world's empty shortcuts; every step of His pathway leads somewhere worth arriving.
  • I declare that my end is greater than my beginning, and the years of strain, waiting, and refinement are producing a depth in me that no instant promotion could ever create.
  • I declare that I am held, not by my own strength of resolve, but by the unchanging grip of a Savior who has never loosened His hand on a life surrendered to Him.

Reflection

Before you close today’s devotional, take sixty seconds to name, honestly, without spiritualizing it, the specific trial or delay that is weighing heaviest on you right now. Write it down if you need to. Then, alongside that weight, write the words of Colossians 1:27 and let the contrast sit with you: the very Christ who orchestrated Joseph’s improbable journey from a pit to a palace is the same One dwelling inside you at this moment. The process has not disqualified you; it is, in fact, the proof that you are being prepared for something significant enough to require it.
