Open Heaven for June 25, 2026
Topic: Start From Where You Are
Devotional: Open Heaven (RCCG)

Bible reading: John 4:25-30 (KJV)
Memory verse: For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth. – Zachariah 4:10 (KJV)
Some people choose to be passive and not apply themselves in their careers and even things that have to do with God’s Kingdom, because they don’t want to start small. They keep postponing the things they ought to do because they feel that they are not equipped enough. If God has given you an assignment, you should not wait until you feel you are good enough to start. This is because He knew your capacity and imperfections before He chose you. Even though you need to keep growing and equipping yourself so you can progressively become a more valuable vessel in His hands, you should not keep God waiting once He commissions you for an assignment because you want to become perfect for the assignment.
In John 4:1-30, when Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman, she returned to her people and started telling them about Jesus. All she had was one encounter with the Master, but it was enough for people to follow her to see Him and encounter Him also. She didn’t first enrol in a theological school or go for classes with the Scribes; she started from where she was and with what she had.
When God called Moses in Exodus 3, he felt like he was not competent enough for the job. He kept giving God excuses and even suggested that He choose someone else. God never calls the qualified; rather, He always equips those He chooses.
God can choose to bypass individuals who seem vastly experienced and qualified, and select a totally inexperienced and unqualified person. For example, God bypassed Jesse’s older sons to choose David, the lastborn of the family, who appeared unqualified for kingship. Psalm 78:70-71 says that God picked David from the sheepfolds and brought him to feed His inheritance. God delights in using the foolish things of the world to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). He also can choose to hide some things from the wise and rather reveal them to babes (Matthew 11:25).
Beloved, has God called you to do something for Him? Look beyond your current resources and what seems to be your capacity, and launch out. Start from where you are; don’t despise your little beginnings. On Judgement Day, God will not be concerned about the skilled and qualified; rather, He will be looking to say, “…Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21). Start small, remain faithful, and the Lord will equip you with all that you need as you carry out your divine assignments.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today
These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content — declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.
Prayer Points
- Lord, forgive me for every season I have delayed Your assignment because I was waiting on my own sense of readiness rather than trusting Your sufficiency.
- Father, grant me the courage of the Samaritan woman — to share what little I know of You with boldness, knowing that one genuine encounter with You is more than enough to send others running toward You.
- God, wherever insecurity and self-doubt have silenced my obedience, silence them now with the truth of Your Word and restore my confidence in Your calling over my life.
- Lord, equip me progressively as I step out — let every resource, skill, and open door I need arrive exactly when I need it, just as I commit to faithful action.
- Father, root out the spirit of comparison that makes me measure my beginning against someone else's middle chapter, and help me honour the unique starting point You have placed me on.
- Heavenly Father, raise up people around me who will respond to the testimony You are writing through my small, faithful steps, just as a whole town responded to one woman's simple witness.
- Lord, let the word 'Well done' be the testimony You speak over my life — not because I was the most talented, but because I was faithful with whatever measure You gave me.
- God, wherever You have called me and I have called it too small or too ordinary, open my eyes to see it the way You see it — as a planting ground for something immeasurably greater.
Declarations
- I am called, equipped, and commissioned by God, and I refuse to let the smallness of my beginning define the greatness of my obedience.
- I will start today with what I have and where I am, because God knew every limitation I carry long before He chose me for this assignment.
- The faithfulness I pour into small things is not wasted — it is the very soil in which God grows extraordinary fruit.
- I am not disqualified by my inexperience; I am chosen by a God who delights in confounding the world's expectations through surrendered, ordinary people.
- I will not despise my day of small beginnings, because God's eyes are on every faithful step I take, and He is actively working on my behalf.
Reflection
Take five minutes today to write down one specific assignment or nudge from God that you have been deferring until a ‘better season.’ Beneath it, honestly list the excuses that have kept you waiting — then beside each excuse, write a name from Scripture who shared that limitation and was used mightily anyway. Let that list be your permission slip to take one concrete, small action before the day is over. Faithfulness is not a feeling; it is a choice made in the ordinary moments before the extraordinary ones arrive.
