Today’s Open Heaven devotional invites us to rest in a breathtaking truth: the God we worship stands completely outside the grip of time and holds every season in His hands. Whether you are staring at a dream that feels overdue or a situation that looks impossibly far gone, this message is for you. Pastor E.A. Adeboye draws from the wedding at Cana and the resurrection of Lazarus to show us that God is never too late — He simply operates on a different clock altogether. Let today’s reading stir fresh courage in your heart as you pray.

Topic: Lord Over Time

Bible reading: John 2:1-11 (KJV)
Memory verse: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: – John 11:25 (KJV)
The Almighty God is truly powerful. He is Lord over all, and He is so powerful that He can bring the future into the present.
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus, His mother, and His disciples attended a wedding. In the course of the celebration, His mother learnt that the hosts had run out of wine and she informed Jesus who responded by saying, “My time has not yet come.” Notwithstanding, Jesus instructed the servants at the wedding to fill six waterpots with water and then draw out some of it for the governor of the ceremony. As they did so, the water miraculously turned into wine. Jesus simply reached into the future and changed the time from ‘not yet’ to ‘now’. I pray that if there is anything you are trusting God for that seems to have been delayed, it will come into manifestation now, in Jesus’ name.
In John 11:1-17, Lazarus died and had been buried for four days before Jesus arrived on the scene. Naturally, his case was a hopeless one because a four-day-old corpse would have started decomposing already. However, when Jesus arrived at Lazarus’ home, He told Martha, his sister, that her brother would rise again. If Jesus had arrived on the day Lazarus died, Martha might have had a glimmer of hope that Jesus could raise her brother from the dead. However, he had been dead for four days, and she said, “Lord, by this time he stinketh…” (John 11:39). Even though Jesus had not yet died and resurrected, He reached into the future to become the Resurrection and the Life for Lazarus’ sake (John 11:25). He took on an identity that was reserved for after his death and resurrection and called Lazarus out of the grave.
Beloved, we serve a God who is not bound by time. He created time itself and is Lord over it. This is why you should not despair when it seems like you have lost some opportunities, or when you are in a terrible situation that seems to be beyond redemption. When you are faced with such circumstances, all God requires you to do is have faith in Him, and as Jesus said in John 11:40, “…if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God…” I pray today that if there is any situation in your life that has been judged to be dead and stinking, such a situation will experience the Resurrection and the Life, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven Prayer Points for Today
These Open Heaven prayer points for today are original PrayerPrompt content — declarations and a reflection to turn today’s message into prayer.
Prayer Points
- Father, where I have grown weary waiting for a promise, renew my confidence that Your timing is always perfect and Your word never expires.
- Lord Jesus, just as You stepped into the wedding at Cana and transformed an embarrassing shortage into abundance, step into every area of lack in my life right now.
- Holy Spirit, silence every voice of despair that tells me my situation is too far gone, and replace it with the unshakeable voice of faith.
- Heavenly Father, resurrect every dream, relationship, or opportunity that I have buried in discouragement and called dead — breathe life into it again.
- Lord, grant me the grace to keep trusting You even in the fourth-day seasons — when circumstances smell of defeat and those around me have given up hope.
- Father, I pray for anyone reading this who is facing a medical, financial, or relational situation that has been declared irreversible: let Your resurrection power override every natural verdict today.
- Lord, teach me to see delays not as denials but as divine setups for a glory that only You could receive when the miracle finally arrives.
- God of all creation, align my heart so completely with Your purposes that I experience Your intervention not when I demand it, but exactly when it will glorify You most.
Declarations
- I declare that time is not my enemy — it is a tool in the hands of my Father, and He is working all things together for my good.
- I declare that no situation in my life has passed the expiration date of God's power; He is the Resurrection and the Life, and that includes my story.
- I declare that I will not trade my faith for fear, no matter how long I have been waiting, because the God who holds eternity holds my breakthrough.
- I declare that delayed does not mean denied — my miracle is not lost in time; it is preserved in God until the moment He chooses to release it.
- I declare that I serve a God who is never bound by natural limits, and therefore the limitations I see today do not define the outcome He has already ordained.
Reflection
Take a quiet moment today to identify one situation you have quietly written off as hopeless — something you stopped bringing to God because it felt too stale or too far gone. Lazarus had been in the tomb four days; the wine at Cana had completely run out. Neither stopped Jesus. Write that situation down, pray over it specifically using today’s promises, and then release it back into the hands of the One who created time itself. Faith is not ignoring reality; it is choosing to trust the God who can re-write it.
