Daily Prayer for July 13, 2026: Supplement Your Faith and Bear Fruit

Devotional: Every Effort, on Purpose

There is a particular kind of spiritual restlessness that sets in when you know you belong to God, you believe His promises, yet you sense that something between faith and fruitfulness is still undeveloped. You are not backsliding. You are not doubting. You are just aware of a gap, a distance between what you believe and who you are becoming.

Peter names that gap and then hands you a plan. In 2 Peter 1:5–8, he writes: “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (ESV)

Notice that Peter does not say wait for these qualities to appear. He says make every effort to add them, deliberately, one building on the next, like floors rising on a foundation. Faith is the ground floor. God does not abandon you there. He expects you to build.
