Joy That Fills and Praise That Rises

Today's Scripture

"And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard far away." (Nehemiah 12:43, ESV)

Evening Spiritual Posture

Father, I come to You tonight cleared of the noise of the day. I cast every care on You, because You care for me (1 Peter 5:7, NIV). I enter Your presence with a thankful heart, rehearsing what You have already done.

Entering God's Presence

Father, You are the source of every true joy. I come before You tonight with praise on my lips and gratitude in my chest. What You have done in the past is evidence of who You are tonight.

Prayer for the Night

Lord, let great joy and grateful praise fill my heart tonight as I bring every need before You. I will not let anxiety have the last word this evening. You said that in Your presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11, ESV), and I receive that fullness now.

Interceding for Others

Father, I lift the people around me who are carrying burdens too heavy for them tonight. Let the joy that filled Jerusalem overflow into their hearts too, because You are no less present with them than You were with Your people then.
